Temperance…

I pulled this card this morning and laughed because I was hitting the road on my way to a friend’s wedding. I said to my deck “Yeah right, deck. I am going to dance like a wild fool and take ridiculous and lavish photos. I am going to drink my face off and eat every passed hor d’oeuvres I can get my little hands on and then…CAKE. Bring on the cake!” Balance? Calming flow?!? Hell no…. But as the day evolved and work crept in to try and derail my happy abandon, I found myself fighting to stay focused on the feeling that I could let go without any constraints or consequences. The challenge of this made me realize - sometimes extravagance and indulgence is exactly what you need to strike a balance in life. If you are constantly playing by the rules, you may have to cut loose to find that equilibrium within. So, if you are work obsessed, constantly careful and painstakingly conscientious, you might have to push your own boundaries this weekend to acheive the stability and steadiness in life we all long for. Spoil yourself a little…or even a lot. You deserve it AND it may help you to create find the in-between you truly long for.
