Sometimes you need to retreat, but can’t get away. In these moments it may feel to you like your personal light is existing outside of you and you are just going through the motions of life. If you are “getting through it” you have likely found yourself completely disconnected from your spirit. It’s easy to forget that solace is never that far away and let anxiety reign. But lets not forget that we can withdraw with the simplest act of closing our eyes or connecting to our breath. No matter what kind of day you have had, take 5 minutes tonight to create a momentary haven, by doing just that. Close your eyes and observe your breath. Let the air fill you with calm as it fills your lungs with oxygen. Imagine your spirit hangs above you in the form of a lantern. Send your breath and love into that dangling lamp until it lights up your heart and mind with color. Repeat this to yourself as you breathe: “I am safe and protected. I deserve to feel connected and whole. My light is important.” Sweet dreams…
